UEFA Women’s EURO 2025: The Tournament

The 14th edition of the UEFA Women’s European Championship took place in Switzerland, running from July 2 to July 27. From Geneva to Lucerne, the 16 participating teams competed across eight different venues. As usual, Les Bleues entered the tournament as underdogs. In the group stage, they faced England (July 5), then Wales (July 9), and the Netherlands (July 13). On paper, it was a tough group—England came in as one of the tournament favorites, alongside Spain and the Netherlands. The top two teams in each group advanced directly to the quarter-finals.

Among the players to watch, five Paris Saint-Germain players were selected: Elisa De Almeida, Grace Geyoro, Griedge Mbock, Sakina Karchaoui, and Thiniba Samoura. They also faced their PSG teammate Lieke Martens, star of the Dutch national team. Other major names featured in the tournament, including England’s Lucy Bronze and Spain’s two-time Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmatí.
